Add a User to a Blackboard Course or Organization Site

Submit a request for Blackboard Support to enroll a user in a Course or Organization Site.

The Instructor of the Course, Leader of the Organization, Department Chair or Leadership must make the request.

Instructor and Student roles can only be added to an official Course in the Banner system.  They will then populate into Blackboard from Banner.

Organization Roles:

Leader - Full access to manage the Organization Site and Content

Participant - Users can access content, participate in Discussion Boards, Submit Assignments, etc.  Similar to the Student role in a Course. 

Course Roles:

Substitute Instructor - Full Access to manage the Course Site and Content.  The user will appear on the Course Content page as an Instructor. Students can use the mail icon to message them. Teaching Assistant - Full Access to manage the Course Site and Content including access to the Grade Center.  This role does not have permissions to take attendance or submit grades to Banner.  This role can be requested for another instructor to access the course and copy content. If you are adding another instructor to share content, please consider using the Export/Import process.

SI Support - Supplemental Instruction role.  Used for Tutors or others that need to access course content, but do not have access to view grades.

Development or Shared Course Content Roles:

Instructor - Full access to manage the course and content.  Typically used to designate an owner or manager of the site who is authorized to add other users.

Teaching Assistant - Full access to manage content and copy content.  May be used to designate users who are not managers of the site or authorized to add other users.
