Service Overview

Phishing refers to fraudulent attempts to get personal information from you. Scammers use any means they can — spoofed emails and texts, misleading pop-up ads, fake downloads, calendar spam, and phony phone calls to trick you into sharing information, such as your password or credit card numbers.

How to Report Phishing

DO NOT click links, open attachments, reply, approve MFA prompts, or call phone numbers listed in the suspicious message.

Do ONE of the following:

1. Forward the original suspicious email immediately to TechSupport@sjcd.edu.

2. Create a new email, attach the suspicious email to it, and immediately send it to TechSupport@sjcd.edu. This will provide our security team with more information to block and report the suspicious email.

3. Report the phishing email in Outlook (see instructions below).

Outlook Web

  1. Select the suspicious email in your inbox.
  2. Look for Report above the reading pane or in the message toolbar.
  3. Select Report phishing.
  4. If you do not see Report, try one of these options:
    • Right-click the email, then select Report > Report phishing.
    • Open the email, select the three dots menu, then look for Report or Report phishing.
  5. Confirm the report if prompted.

Outlook Desktop — Windows

  1. Select the suspicious email.
  2. Look for Report or Report Message in the top ribbon, usually in the Home tab.
  3. Select Report phishing or Phishing.
  4. If you do not see the button, try one of these options:
    • Right-click the email, then select Report > Report phishing.
    • Open the email and look for Report, Report Message, or Report Phishing in the ribbon.
    • Select the three dots or More actions menu and look for Report phishing.
  5. Confirm the report if prompted.

Outlook Desktop — Mac

  1. Select or open the suspicious email.
  2. Look for Report or Report Phishing in the message toolbar.
  3. If you do not see the button, select the three dots menu in the upper-right area of the message window.
  4. Select Report phishing.
  5. Confirm the report if prompted.

Outlook Mobile App

  1. Open the suspicious email in the Outlook mobile app.
  2. Tap the three dots menu in the message.
  3. Select Report, Report Junk, or Report phishing.
  4. Choose Phishing or Report phishing if prompted.
  5. Confirm the report.
