How to apply for the Compudopt Computer Giveaway?

Who is eligible?
Anyone who applies to the San Jacinto College Compudopt Giveaway is eligible. Selection is based on availability of computers, not income or other demographics.
Do I need to sign a loan agreement?
No loan agreement is needed - the computer is yours to keep.
What is the household limit?
One computer per household every two years.
Why does the form ask for Parent/Guardian information?
The form is used nationwide and therefore cannot be modified. If you are 18 or over, please enter your information in place of Parent/Guardian questions.
Why does the form ask about my child’s school and school district?
The form is used nationwide and therefore cannot be modified. Please enter "San Jacinto College" and your campus (North, Central, or South).
I did not receive a text message. Do I need to reapply?
You remain eligible for future giveaways. Check the Student Computer Giveaway through Compudopt service for up-to-date information on future giveaways.
What if I want to purchase my own computer instead?
Recommended minimum specifications can be found here: https://www.sanjacits.org/minimum-specs. You can use financial aid at the Campus Bookstore before funds are disbursed.
Also check for student discounts from retailers like Best Buy, Apple, HP, Lenovo, etc. Third Party sites like https://thinkedu.com/or https://www.myunidays.com/US/en-US can assist to validate your student status and ensure you find deals for technology and other items.

How am I notified if chosen?
Compudopt will contact you directly via text message a week before the giveaway event.
Here is a sample message:
Congratulations! You were selected to receive a computer from Compudopt! You can pick up your computer on {date}. You must RSVP to secure your computer by clicking here: {Link To Ticket} and use your access code: {Access Code}. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out of future messages."
Follow instructions to RSVP and get your Eventbrite invitation with QR code and pickup details.
What differentiates On-Campus and other Houston area giveaways?
San Jacinto will host On-Campus giveaways and provide computers with Windows Operating System, while other Houston giveaways have computers with the Ubuntu Operating System.
What is the difference between Windows and Ubuntu?
Ubuntu is a free, web-based OS that does not support Microsoft Office, Adobe, or Respondus Lockdown Browser. The College recommends a Windows OS system.
What are the pickup requirements?
Bring your Eventbrite QR Code or Access Code.
Can I designate someone else to pick up for me?
A friend or family member can pick up your computer with your Eventbrite QR Code or Access Code.
What if I missed my pickup?
You are still eligible for future giveaways and do not need to reapply.
