Accessing Faronics Insight - Teacher Console
Please Note: Currently, Faronics Insight does not auto-start upon login like Vision (previous program). ITS is working on a solution for Insight to auto-start on both the instructor and student computers (PCs). However, until a solution is found, instructors and students will both need to launch Insight to use the full features. Instructors can still view/access student PCs without the student having the Insight application launched.
1. On the instructor/podium PC, access Faronics Insight Teacher Console (Owl logo) from the system tray at the bottom right corner. Click the arrow in the system tray to find the icon. Students can also launch the program from the student PC system tray.

Note for Instructors: You can also search for Faronics Insight in the Windows search bar or in the Windows applications list.

Launching the Teacher Console
1. After launching the program, you will see the login screen. The entry fields for “Class IDs” and “Settings” should automatically auto-fill. Click START.

2. After clicking START, the interface should look like the image below. Blank/black screens indicate that the PCs have not been logged into by students. The PCs that have been logged into will display the PC desktop. Note: When students log off the PC, the Windows login screen will be displayed until the PC enters sleep mode and may return to a blank state as described previously.

Navigating the Teacher Console
- The Teacher Controls (outlined in red in the image below) allows access to the Class Settings, Class ID, and the ability to control the audio on the student devices.
- The Student Controls (outlined in blue) provide instructors with a notification when a student has raised their hand for assistance within the Insight Student Application. This also shows the instructor who is requesting assistance.
- The feature buttons (outlined in green) allow access to actions that instructors can perform on the student’s systems to monitor activity, perform assessments, or engage with the students.
- The View buttons (outlined in pink) provide instructors with options to customize the way that the student machines are being displayed within the instructor console.
- The Chat button at the bottom right of the page (outlined in gray) allows access to the chat functionality of the Insight Teacher.

Layout
The LAYOUT button provides useful display options, allowing instructors to filter PCs based on specific criteria such as PC name or G#.

Selection
Instructors must select student PCs to access, remote, share, and execute other actions. Use the preset filters in the SELECT tab or click on the student PCs. You can also hold the "Ctrl" key and select them individually.

Features

Remote
Instructors can access student PCs remotely by selecting the PC then clicking REMOTE. The image below is an example of a remote session.

Share
Instructors can share their PC or another student's PC by selecting it and choosing a sharing option from the dropdown menu.

Actions
The instructor can complete various actions on one or more student PCs using the ACTIONS feature.

Classrooms
The CLASSROOMS feature allows instructors to customize, organize, and manage their classroom. However, instructors will not use this option because the podium PCs are frozen.
Assess
The ASSESS feature allows instructors to create and proctor tests and create polls.

Focus
The FOCUS feature allows instructors to implement restrictions on student PCs such as:

Messaging and Student View
Messaging
Instructors can message students by clicking the chat icon (white/blue bubble) at the bottom right corner. Note: Students are not able to message other students and can only message the instructor.

Student View
The Faronics Insights student view is shown until the instructor sends content. In the default view, students can message the instructor and virtually raise their hand.
