Respondus Lockdown Browser in Blackboard (Students)

Respondus LockDown Browser is a secure browser for taking tests in Blackboard. It prevents printing, copying, going to another URL, or accessing other applications during a test. If a Blackboard test requires the LockDown browser be used, you will not be able to complete the test with a standard web browser.

All courses will be in Ultra Course view beginning May 13th, 2024.  Please choose the appropriate Quick Start Guide below.

Students who have used the Lockdown Browser in the past will notice a change in Ultra Courses.  Your test will now be started using a regular web browser which will launch the Lockdown Browser when you begin. You will still need to install the SJC Lockdown Browser from the links below and install to your device before taking your test.
